The culmination of the National Level Nuzul Al-Qur'an Celebration was the presentation of prizes to winners and participants of the National Level Musabaqah Al-Qur'an Memorisation and its Understanding for 1445 Hijrah. His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam presented the prizes at the event that took place at the International Convention Centre in Berakas.

 

Upon arrival, His Majesty was greeted by Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, Minister of Religious Affairs, and the celebration's Executive Committee.

 

Also present were His Majesty's sons and brothers:

- His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office;

- His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik;

- His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Mateen;

- His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah;

- And His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah.

 

The reading of Surah Al-Fatihah was led by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Doktor Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, State Mufti.

 

The Minister of Religious Affairs in his welcoming address among other things underlined the continuous efforts in disseminating the knowledge and understanding of the contents of Al-Quran verses.

 

Winners of the five categories of the Musabaqah presented their Al-Qur'an memorisation and understanding. Category A, memorisation of selected Surah from Juz 30 and its understanding for participants aged 13 and below, was won by Dayang Nur Sofiyyah Solehah binti Mohammad Fikri.

 

Meanwhile, Dayang 'Alya Fathiyyah binti Haji Abdul Rajid placed first in Category B, which was memorisation of selected Surah namely Surah Luqmaan, Surah As-Sajdah, Surah Yaasin, Surah Ar-Rahmaan, Surah Al-Waqi'ah, Suruh Al-Jumu'ah, Surah Al-Mulk, Surah Al-Jinn and Surah Al-Insan as well as the understanding of Surah Al-Qasas and Surah Al-'Ankabut for ages 14 and above.

 

Category C, memorisation of Surah Al-Baqarah and Surah Ali-'Imraan as well as the understanding of Surah Yunus and Surah Hud, which was open to all ages, went to Awang Abdul Rasyid bin Haji Mohammad Norazmi.

 

Category D, memorisation of 15 Juz of Al-Qur'an from Juz 1 to 15 as well as the understanding of Surah Saba', Surah Fathir, and Surah Yaasin, which was open to all ages was won by Awang Ahmad Huzaifah bin Haji Awang Hasbi.

 

Awang Mohammad Fikri bin Haji Sharbini placed first in Category E, memorisation of 30 Juz of Al-Qur'an as well as the understanding of Surah Al-Fatihah and Surah Al-Baqarah, which was open to all age levels.

 

Winner of Category A, Dayang Nur Sofiyyah Solehah binti Mohammad Fikri took home a $1,500 cash prize. Runner-up was Dayang Nur Syifa Hasanah binti Mohammad Fikri, and in third place was Dayang Alya Sofiyyah binti Abdul 'Azim.

 

Dayang 'Alya Fathiyyah binti Haji Abdul Rajid who won Category B received $2,000 cash prize. Dayang Nuramal Shofiyyah binti Irma Shukrin and Dayang Ainaa Zunah Insyirah binti Haji Abdul Manap placed second and third respectively.

 

Category C winner, Awang Abdul Rasyid bin Haji Mohammad Norazmi received cash prize amounting $2,800. In second place was Awang Mohammad Ahmed Maahee bin Haji Samry, while Dayang Siti Nur Aqilah binti Haji Jahari placed third.

 

Cash prize of $3,500 went to Category D winner, Awang Ahmad Huzaifah bin Haji Awang Hasbi. Dayangku Nurfaiezah binti Pengiran Haji Kamaluddin and Dayang Siti Nurul Syafiqah Shahirah binti Haji Sufri/Suhaili placed second and third respectively.

 

Awang Mohammad Fikri bin Haji Sharbini, winner of Category E, took home cash prize of five thousand dollars. Second place went to Awang Muhammad Adi Syazani @ Muhammad Izz Raziq bin Shahri, and Dayangku Nurol Hafizah binti Pengiran Haji Tejudin took third. Winners also received an accompanying prize; a Digital Al-Qur'an and participation certificate.

 

Doa Selamat was read by the State Mufti.

 

This year's celebration was jointly organised by the Ministry of Religious Affairs; Ministry of Health; Ministry of Education; Royal Brunei Airlines; and MABIMS Centre for Al-Qur'an Studies and Dissemination.
